Sportlovet är slut sedan en vecka tillbaka, det blev inte så mycket sportande. Inte för någon av oss. Men lillebror och mamma hittade ett bra hotellerbjudande med två övernattningar i dubbelrum till priset för en natt, så de fick ett par dagar för sig själva. Han hamnar i kläm ibland lillebror, eller ganska ofta. Och i princip alltid när Edith har dåliga dagar. Så han behövde få lite egen tid och stå i centrum.
Han kommer att stanna hemma denna resan också, kanske att han åker med nästnästa resa, det vill säga den i juni. Då har han sommarlov och om Edith är lite bättre kanske vi skulle kunna stanna några dagar extra och se lite mer av SLC och Utah. Han har i alla fall annonserat att han gärna vill åka med igen. Han vill köpa godis och läsk i macken bredvid McDonalds-huset och så vill han åka till varuhuset Smith´s eller Walmart och shoppa.
När lillebror bodde på hotell åkte jag och Edith och hälsade på två av hennes kusiner. Om ett par månader kommer de att vara tre, Ediths faster hade en rejäl mage. Det var tyvärr en dålig dag att resa visade det sig, Edith fick anfall direkt vi kommit innanför dörren, hon hann inte ens ta av sig jackan och sov sedan resten av kvällen. Morgonen efter var hon lite piggare och kunde umgås en stund med kusinerna och deras hund. Anfallsmässigt har det annars varit lite lugnare några dagar, vi hoppas att det håller i sig och att det blir bättre och mer stabilt efter nästa justering…
…Tyvärr höll sig inte lugnet. Edith och jag ligger på sjukhuset nu sedan några timmar. Dagen började dåligt. Eller egentligen avslutades gårdagen dåligt. Edith fick ett anfall en stund efter att hon somnat, det gjorde att hon var svår att få upp ur sängen imorse och hon somnade igen direkt efter morgonmedicinerna. Det första anfallet kom kl 8.30. Sen kom en våg runt lunch som inte ville sluta trots att vi gav akutmedicinen. Efter en andra dos av akutmedicin ringde vi ambulansen.
Nu ligger vi på ett rum på barnakuten i Växjö. Edith är trött, drogad, halvsover med ögonlocken på glänt. Hon har haft några mindre eller mer normala anfall till. Det är svårt att bedöma när de tar slut, om de tar slut. Jag är ganska säker på att RNSen avbröt ytterligare ett för en stund sedan. Vi avvaktar och ser, men här på sjukhuset finns andra möjligheter att ge tyngre akutmediciner vid behov. Så vi räknar med att spendera natten här, förhoppningsvis är allt stabilare imorgon så att vi kan åka hem igen – tillskillnad från den planerade egentiden, är den här typen av egen tid för lillebror inte positiv. Framförallt måste det vara stabilt tills vi ska åka igen, det är bara en dryg vecka kvar nu innan vi åker fjärde gången till SLC och Intermountain.
Nu fick Edith precis ett anfall till. Kommer det fler blir det nödvändigt att sätta in akutmedicin för att försöka bryta mönstret.

Own time and an ambulance ride again
The sports holiday is over since a week ago. None of us played sports during the holidays, unfortunately. But little brother and mother found a good hotel deal with two nights in a double room for the price of one night, so they got a couple of days for themselves. He does not always get the attention he deserves from us, especially when Edith has a bad day. Of course, this is not intentional on our part, but with a sibling who is ill, it unfortunately happens sometimes. So, he needed to have some quality time of his own and be at the center of attention.
He will stay at home this trip as well, maybe he will go with the next trip, that is, the one in June. Then he has summer vacation and if Edith is a little better maybe we could stay a few days extra and see a little more of SLC and Utah. In any case, he has announced that he would like to go to the US again. He wants to buy sweets and soft drinks at the gas station next to the RMHC and then he wants to go to the Smith´s or Walmart and shop.
When little brother and mother stayed at the hotel, Edith and I went to visit two of her cousins. In a couple of months, they will be three, Edith’s aunt had a big belly. It was unfortunately a bad day to travel, it turned out, Edith had a seizure as soon as we got inside the cabin, she did not even have time to take off her jacket and then she slept the rest of the evening. The next morning, she felt a little bit better and could spend some time with the cousins and their dog. Since then, Edith has had a pretty good week seizure wise. We hope that this trend continues until our next appointment with Dr Bollo March 16th. Then we hope that it will be even better and more stable after the RNS adjustments.
… Unfortunately, the calm did not last. Edith and I have been in the hospital for a few hours now. The day started badly. Or actually, yesterday ended badly. Edith had a seizure a while after she fell asleep, it made it difficult for her to get out of bed this morning and she fell asleep again immediately after the morning medication. The first seizure came at 8.30 AM. Then came a new wave around lunch that did not want to stop even though we gave the rescue medicine. After a second dose of rescue medicine, we called the ambulance.
Now we are in a room at the children’s emergency ward in Växjö. Edith is tired, drugged, half asleep with her eyelids partly open. She has had some more seizures since we arrived. It is difficult to see when they end, if they end or if they are ongoing. I’m pretty sure the RNS interrupted another one a right now. We will have to wait and see when the situation calms down again. Here at the hospital they can provide heavier emergency medication when or if needed. So, we expect to spend the night here, hopefully everything is more stable tomorrow so we can go home again – unlike the planned own time, this type of own time for little brother is not positive. Above all, it must be stable until we take off again, there is only a little over a week left now until the fourth trip to SLC and Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital.
Edith just had another seizure. If there are more seizures, Edith will get more emergency medicine.
