Hittills idag har Edith haft ett anfall, ett vanligt anfall. Registreringen fungerade och en första tolkning av den är gjord. Annars har hon mest sovit, vi har suttit bredvid. Så fort hon vaknat har hon haft ont, väldigt ont. Nu på kvällen har hon piggnat till lite och beställt en taco-tallrik och en jordgubbsmilkshake med hallon. Just nu är plattan framme och Edith spelar spel.
Om en timme tar lillebror och mamma shutteln till McDonaldshuset. Lillebror får egentligen inte vara på sjukhuset alls, men ”svenskarna” har fått hjälp att fixa ett undantag kring det också. Innan lillebror åker ska han sänka en Root Beer Slushie till. Hans matvanor var dåliga den sista tiden innan vi åkte, de blev värre de första dagarna här, nu har de fullständigt havererat.
I natt är det Edith och jag som sover på sjukhuset. Det är väl inte säkert att det blir så mycket sömn. Vi hoppas att hon inte ska ha ont och på ett par anfall till i natt. Ju tidigare och bättre anfallsregistreringar vi får, ju tidigare kan vi ta nästa steg. Baserat på det läkarna vet nu lutar det åt att operera in en RNS (responsive neuro stimulation system). Kanske, kanske redan på fredag. Men som sagt vi behöver fler anfall först – hur jobbigt det än är.

DAY 9 in SLC – tonight it’s you and me Edith
So far today, Edith has had one seizure, a “normal” seizure. The registration worked and a first interpretation of it is made. Otherwise she has mostly slept, we have been in the room with her. As soon as she has woken up she has been complaining about headache. Edith is not the one who complains, so she has really been struggling today. This evening she is feeling better and has ordered a taco plate and a strawberry milkshake with raspberries. Right now she is sitting in bed with her IPad.
In an hour, little brother and mother will take the shuttle to RM-house. Before he leaves, he has to finish his second root beer slushie of the day. His eating habits were bad the first few days here, now they are completely out of control.
This night it’s me and Edith staying at the hospital together with the great nurses here at Primary´s. I hope Edith can stay out of pain and that there will be a couple of more seizures tonight. The earlier and better seizure registrations we get, the sooner we can take out the electrodes and take the next step. Based on what the doctors have seen so far, the next step is likely to surgically insert an RNS (Responsive Neurostimulation System) – maybe, already on Friday. But, we need more seizures first – no matter how hard it is.
*Hope we can get some hours sleep tonight Edith, and maybe one or two mild seizures.
