Idag publicerades en artikel i Smålandsposten om Edith, hennes och vår resa. Efter att vi tagit vårt corona-test idag kl 9.40 sprang jag in på Pressbyrån på vägen till bilen och köpte två exemplar av tidningen. PCR-test är förresten inte behagliga att ta. Barnen hanterade det bäst, jag drog reflexmässigt undan huvudet och på Ediths mamma fick man börja om två gånger för att det tog stopp.
Edith var i alla fall på bild i tidningen och jag fick också vara med, kanske hade den varit bättre utan mig. Jag har en tendens att se arg ut på bild. Min fru uttrycker sig betydligt mer drastiskt när hon recenserar mitt minspel och min förmåga att stå modell… Edith är lik mig, men söt ändå. Hon såg också ganska allvarlig ut.
Jag skrivit en del här och har försökt att korrekturläsa det innan publicering, men det känns ändå märkligt att se delar av vår resa i text. Kanske för att det är berättat av någon annan. Men kanske också för att tryckt text, en dagstidningsartikel upplevs annorlunda. Oavsett tyckte Edith att det var kul att vara på bild och bli intervjuad – det var det viktigaste.
Nu är det nära avresa. I natt är sista natten hemma innan vi åker. Vi har äntligen börjat packa. Men det är inte helt enkelt att komma överens om vad som är ”absolut nödvändigt” att packa. Generellt sett kan man väl säga att barnen har en generösare tolkning av nödvändigt än vi föräldrar. Ambitionen är att klara oss med tre resväskor och handbagage. Ediths lillebror har redan fyllt två av de stora väskorna. Hans byxfickor är också fyllda med olika bra-att-ha-saker och blandningar. Just blandningarna av olika vätskor, i olika färger i små plastflaskor riskerar nog att bli ett bekymmer i säkerhetskontrollerna. Så vi får nog rensa lite där när han somnat, för att inte riskera att bli stoppade.

2 DAYS LEFT – last night at home
Today an article was published in the local newspaper Smålandsposten about Edith, her struggle and our journey. After covid testing early today, I ran into the 7-eleven on the way to the car and bought two copies of the newspaper. By the way, a PCR is not a pleasant experience.
In any case, Edith´s picture was published in the article, I was also part of the picture. Maybe it would have been better without me. I have a tendency to look angry in photos. My wife expresses herself much more drastically when she reviews my modelling skills… Edith has got her looks from me, but she is still cute. She also looked quite serious in the picture.
By now I have written some posts here in the blog, and I try to review them before publication. But it still feels strange to see parts of our story in print. Maybe because it’s told by someone else. But perhaps also because a newspaper article gives a different experience than a blog. Regardless, Edith thought it was fun to be on a picture in the paper and being interviewed – that is the most important thing.
Now it’s close to departure. Tonight is the last night at home before we leave. Finally we have started packing. But it is not easy to agree on what is ”absolutely necessary” to pack. In general, children have a more generous interpretation of necessity than parents. The ambition is to manage with three suitcases and hand luggage. Edith’s little brother has already filled two of the big bags with his stuff. His trouser pockets are also filled with various good-to-have things. When he has fallen asleep we will have to check that his not bringing anything that can cause problems at the security control at the airport.
